"As a new brand, i love images' distribution partnerships are key. Digital
Railroad's offerings not only address our technical requirements for
distributing and hosting our images, but also provide us access to a wider
base of image buyers through Marketplace.

We have been impressed by the speed with which we have started to see sales
through DRR's "Marketplace" as a result of their efforts in marketing our
images. Working with the Research Network facility also allows us to
respond directly to client requirements via the DRR system and has resulted
in image sales from the first creative briefs that our researchers responded
to.

Everything is in one place, easy to use, and easy to track. I love images
loves Digital Railroad!"

Born 1950 in Hamburg, Germany, Rainer Jahns left school and went into the import/export business. At the age of 32, Jahns sold his furniture, etc., bought a backpack and started traveling around the world. On his travels he met two photographers and he knew that’s what he wanted to do.

"After 3 years of traveling, I returned to Germany and went back to school to study photography and since 1988 I’m working freelance and since 1996 solely in travel photography.

In the beginning I’ve worked with several stock agencies, but never felt being in good hands. I terminated most of the agreements I had and I use Digital Railroad to handle my distribution requirements now."

Its only been four months since I subscribed to the service and I've had already three sales, immediate payment by cheques and always quick answers to all my questions from their incredible support team. It's a very impressive service."

"Dear Evan & Digital Railroad Team, I am happy to see my recent sales from Marketplace.

I believe DRR made a revolution in the marketing of photography. They give significant hope to freelancers and small agencies to be on the international map in this fiercely competitive photography market.

I see the fruits of being a member of THE 'Community', its easy to organize, easy to share and easy to sell your images with DRR.

I can't forget Digital Railroad standing beside me after I sustained a handicapping injury whilst working in the West Bank last year.

Thank you Evan and all the dedicated staff of Digital Railroad".

Rob Casey's Little People, Big Ideas

Rob Casey has always brought his own special vision to his subjects, both on assignment and shooting stock. From nature scenes and outdoor sports (Rob is an avid sea kayaker) to studio still-lifes, his viewpoint is fresh, clean, and unexpected. Rob uses both his Digital Railroad Archive and Marketplace to display and market his personal artistic and stock images.

Recent assignments, with images to come soon to DRR, include a recent four day shoot for Disney Family Fun Magazine, following a family around Washington State on their local travels, and rare portraits of best-selling author Sherman Alexie.

In a continuing series, Rob’s lens has focused all the way down to the tiny: photographing a series of toy miniatures in scenes that evoke real life with a surreal twist.

These little people stand in for us big folks and make for images that convey a variety of concepts and moods, without being limited to a particular time or place: kids’ toys living the lives of grown-ups.

Rob’s skills with the miniature world has most recently led to a new project photographing The Benders by Hog Wild Toys, for a book to be published by Mountaineers Books, with the little guys and gals enjoying rock climbing, kayaking, and other outdoor fun, all in the studio. As Bruce Springsteen wrote (and Dave Edmunds recorded): “from small things, mama, big things one day come”!

Dino Fracchia Has Success with the Marketplace

Dino Fracchia is an award winning photographer born in Milan, Italy in 1950. In 1973, at the end of his military service, he abandoned his education and starts his career as a professional photographer.

In 1977 Dino shot the famous photo of the terrorist shooting in Milan, which comes to symbolize an era of Italian history. In these years he also carried out a report on the survival of Sicilian cultural traditions and on the degradation of the local society.

Fracchia was referred to Digital Railroad by a satisfied existing member, and in his own words "discovered that the relationships, the quality of the service and the price was the best on offer then and still today". Moreover Dino tells me, the fact that hundreds of single photographers and agencies have chosen Digital Railroad add an additional advantage. Since April the Photo Editor, Picture Buyer and the Photo Researchers find a single destination (Marketplace) that facilitates them to do their job easily and effectively.

"Moreover I have found in Digital Railroad a constant human contact, not only 'virtual', and a constant effort to improve and make more a complete system, I can't live without it".

Dino has worked all over the world for publications like Stern Magazine (Germany) and is delighted to be part of the 'Digital Railroad community' and making sales to photo buyers in those markets where he has no buyer contacts.

Random House Uses Marketplace for Knopf MapGuides Cover

Random House photo editors selected this Tokyo street scene from Marketplace for the cover of Knopf's Tokyo MapGuide. The strong graphic energy of the zebra-like stripes of the busy crosswalk contrast nicely with the guide's signature red header creating a memorable cover design.

GalileoPix is a growing collection currently featuring images by photographer, Oote Boe. Boe has a sharp eye for the colors, shapes and the stories contained in still images. Some images are conceptual. Some are realistic. All are made with fresh eyes and unique perspectives not often found in stock photography.

Cecilia de Querol states the reason that GalileoPix utilizes Digital Railroad.
"We joined Digital Railroad as soon as the Marketplace was announced, hoping it would be home for our website as well as a way for our images to find a wider audience. We are very happy to see sales begin to come in and with the variety of ways the images have been used: a book cover, magazine and online video, we look forward to the future with Digital Railroad"
