Digital Railroad member and Marketplace contributor Michele Westmorland, shared these thoughts about Research Network:

“I’m pleased to see the activity in the Research Network for DRR. In addition, the new digest that comes frequently is a great reminder of the opportunity to license images to those publications looking for special needs. When on the road, it is also a great tool for shooting images that may be missing from my files.

Digital Railroad gives me control over images to be presented to buyers everywhere. A great portal and a great way to showcase my work. I look forward to the future in collaboration with DRR.”

The Remarkable World of Peter Menzel

Digital Railroad member Dorit Thies created these beautiful images now available in Marketplace and shares this story about their creation:

"After having done many health and fitness shoots for the past couple of years, 'Beauty' photography has become my latest passion. Make-up artist Iris Moreou and I have collaborated on a few shoots lately which were based on our own concepts. Our inspiration in this case came from flowers and plant elements.

Right after the shoot I offered the series of six images to Monika Steinberg,
the former Editor in Chief of "Foam" magazine and she immediately jumped on it. We got the spring '08 cover of "Foam" magazine plus a 6 page spread of beauty images.

After being on the news stands for two weeks I got a call from LORAC cosmetics
and got hired to shoot their fall campaign. A good example on how success comes when believing and following your gut instinct and giving yourself an assignment."

DRR Member Peter Bennett of Ambient Images shared these recent images and comments about Digital Railroad.

“Environmental issues are not only dear to my heart, but are also subjects I have been shooting more and more of lately. It is also an area I am encouraging our photographers to focus on as well. Two recent shoots were of couple of local Los Angeles environmental groups, FoLAR (Friends of the Los Angels River) and their LA River tours and Santa Monica’s Heal the Bay Clean up.

Marketplace has become an excellent way of reaching clients beyond the scope of our own marketing efforts. This is so important when we expand into new subject matter like environmental issues, as it allows us to see what works and what clients are licensing. Research Network also acts a guide in a similar fashion as it tells us what buyers are looking for, but are not finding. This kind of information is absolutely critical in the stock photo business today.”
